New York City, New York is one of the iconic cities in the world. Known for food, culture, and more – this gem of a city is vast. This begs the question: What should I do on a trip to NYC? When someone mentions NYC and specifically Manhattan, images of flashy lights, Central park, and bagels come to mind. I’d strongly suggest staying in mid-town Manhattan and walking to Times Square, Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art and other major attractions; however, for the purpose of this brief article – I will suggest 3 debatably “lesser known” spots.
#1 Café Reggio

Once called a favorite of David Bowie, Café Reggio is a beautiful Italian café located in Greenwich Village. This café is open most days from 9 AM – 3 AM. Formally featured on movies like “The Next Man” and “The Sun is Also a Star”, Reggio opened in 1927. Easily reached by multiple subway lines or on foot, this café is known for reasonable prices and great drinks. I recommend trying the iced chai tea latte and the crepe Reggio.
#2. Los Tacos No. 1 (Chelsea Market)

Before coming to New York, I had heard about Chelsea Market, but I had not heard about the famously delicious tacos that’re housed in this unsuspecting market. The aforementioned taco stand is open most days from 10 AM – 11 PM. I recommend reaching this funky market on foot via a walk through High Line Park. Here, you will find cheap tacos and great service! After finishing lunch, you can wander around to find additional shops and other food stalls. One thing to note though is that most of the seating is outdoors so try to come on a relatively clear or sunny day.

#3. Brooklyn Bridge Park
In my opinion, one of the best ways to get a view of NYC is to take the ferry from the Financial District of New York City to DUMBO/Brooklyn Bridge Park. The views are breathtaking and the park makes for an excellent people watching or picnic spot.

From the Chelsea Market to Café Reggio and/or the Brooklyn Bridge Park, these are three of my favorite lesser-known things to do in New York City!
