Explore the Enchanting Alsace Region of France

Located in Eastern France, the Alsace region of France is a delight for the senses. The French towns and villages offer wonderful and hearty food options. They also showcase stunning architecture and charm. This collection makes for a splendid holiday for anyone.

Strasbourg

Strasbourg, France, is known as the capital of the region. It is a medium-sized city with plenty to offer. You can view a cathedral or get lost in the atmosphere near the waterfront.

My favorite memory in Strasbourg was having filet mignon and potatoes near the water. I enjoyed people watching. The evening ended with a walk.

Colmar

Colmar is a smaller town located about 45 minutes from Strasbourg via train. This is an easy and convenient way to get around this region. This town is known for colorful homes in a half timbered style.

In addition to your time in Colmar, I recommend using it as a travel base. You can explore other cities like Kayserberg, Ribeauville, and Riquewihr.

Colmar reminded me of a “Little Venice”. This makes sense due to the small canals lined with homes. The neighborhood most famous in Colmar is named “Little Venice”. I highly recommend getting lost in this part of the city!

However, a highlight of my time in the Alsace region was:

A day trip to Eguisheim, France

Eguisheim can be easily reached by a bus located in front of the train station in Colmar. The bus stop is clearly marked, easy to find and only costs 4 euros one way. The town is like a fairytale with great local and Italian food, small cobblestone streets and more!

This small town with cobblestone streets was an absolute highlight of my time in France. The food was stellar. The atmosphere was enchanting. I was more than happy to have added this stop to my itinerary. You should add it to yours too!

Have fun exploring! Have you been here? Leave your recommendation for others!
