Explore Tallinn: A Traveler’s Guide to Attractions

Tallinn, Estonia is one of the major capitals within the Baltic region of Europe. This charming city is something out of a fairytale and sure to have something for all travelers. In the following article, I will outline my favorite things to do in Tallinn that are worth adding to your itinerary.

Telliskivi (Creative City)
Formerly an industrial complex, Telliskivi is now home to art galleries, cafes, restaurants and shopping.

It is a fun and dynamic area of the city with a young feel and lots to do! The area can be explored during the day for a bite to eat or it’s proximity to a lovely market, Balti Jaama Turg, or during the evening for a drink, snacks or just taking in the atmosphere.

Tallinn Botanic Garden
Located: Kloostrimetsa tee 52, 11931,
Tallinn, Estonia

This botanical garden is the largest in Estonia.

With an entrance fee of around $7 USD at the time of writing this piece, the experience is unbeatable. Inside the botanical gardens are flowers, numerous paths to wander, a cafe and more!

Hours range from 10 AM – 7 PM daily.

Tallinn TV Tower
Located: Kloostrimetsa tee 58a, 15026,
Tallinn, Estonia

Another attraction Located near to the botanical garden is the Tallinn TV tower. This structure has a wonder viewing platform at 170 meters with sweeping views of the city. It first opened in 1980 and a ticket costs around $20 USD with food options / a restaurant on the same floor as the viewing platform.

Hours range from 10 AM to 7 PM daily.

Old Town Tallinn

For this section of the article, I will highlight a number of awesome things to be sure to see in Old Town.

Hellemaan Tower and Town Walls
Located: Muurivahe, 48, 10140
Tallinn, Estonia

With tickets costing around $4 USD, this Tower and city walls are a great way to see the details of buildings in Old Town, taking in the views and admire stunning architecture.

Hours at the time of writing this range from 11 AM to 5 PM except Tuesdays and Wednesdays (closed).

Restaurant Odessa – Ukrainian food
Located: Pike 30, 10133, Tallinn Estonia

I’d like like start off by saying, I was in no way sponsored to highlight this restaurant, but it stood out to me during my time in Tallinn, so I’ve included more information about it here.

This restaurant was my first introduction to Ukrainian food and it was delightful. From chicken Kiev to other dishes, this restaurant will surely make you fall in love with Ukrainian food!

Hours range from 11 AM – 11 PM most days with hours on Mondays being 4 PM to 11 PM at the time of writing this article.

Katariina Kalk
This is a unique feature of Tallinn that I had not seen elsewhere. The kalk is a walkway with cobblestone to put it simply, but it is stunning and a great opportunity for photographers!

Church of Alexander Nevsky
Another wonderful location in Tallinn is the Church of Alexander Nevsky. Can you see why? Check on Google for location information, but it’s close proximity to the next landmark I’ll name makes it a wonderful location and area to get a little lost in.

Kontuotsa Viewing Platform
This landmark is a great place to sit and take in views of the city!

And finally,

St. Olaf’s Church
With lots of steps, some may wonder if the view is worth the work – it definitely is! This was one of the highlights of my time in Tallinn so be sure to take a look!

With this, I wish you a wonderful stay in Tallinn -K
