Riga, Latvian located next to Estonia and Lithuania in the Baltics region of Europe. This capital is vibrant, fun-filled and has lots of varied options of things to do. In this article, I will explain my top 5 recommendations for Riga, Latvia!
Old Town – Vecriga

Riga was a former trading post from 1201. Due to its location, it remains an important site of trade. The Old Town of Riga is known for its Art Nouveau style architecture and its prominent status as a UNESCO world heritage site.
Riga Central Market
This large market is one of the biggest in Europe. With 5 pavilions that divide the indoor market into different sections, you would be remiss to miss this wonderful attraction. From produce to souvenirs to people watching, this market has it all!
My favorite thing about Riga was this very market! On the upper floor, there are tables with places to sit and a small bar where you can order a cocktail to take in the atmosphere and to people watch as others pass on the floor below.

National Library of Riga
This library has a striking appearance and interesting art outside. While I didn’t personally go into the library, it is recommended to do so if you have time.

Skyline Bar
Skyline Bar is an upscale bar known for wonderful views of Riga. The drinks are great and the food is inventive and a fashion style of healthy options. I originally found this on Google Maps, which is often a resource I use when traveling. I simply Google something akin to “Riga viewpoint bar” and this was one of the results that came up. You can check the number of stars a restaurant or bar has, read reviews and then make your determination.

River cruise / Boat tour
If you have the time, I would highly recommend trying to see the city of Riga by the water. You can book a boat tour on GetMyGuide or Viator inexpensively and meet a local as well! The city is fun and uniquely experienced by the water.
Here is an example of one option: https://www.getyourguide.com/riga-l213/riga-private-boat-tour-romance-on-the-city-canal-t435725/?ranking_uuid=fe3b4acf-10b5-44b4-9ad9-e48bac7fba82 (I cannot recall if this is the exact one that I took, but it was very similar – I do not endorse this page – it is merely a general example of a broader recommendation).

Considering going to Tallinn?

Also, it is worth noting that train travel in the Baltics is difficult, so busses are recommended.
