The Hill of Crosses was something I had never seen before on my trip to the Baltics in 2023. Here, many crosses, religious statues and figures as well as crucifixes stand atop a large hill. It is estimated that 100,000 crosses were he as of 2006. Undoubtedly, the number has since then increased.
Originally, as a pilgrimage site for Catholics, it was estimated that the first cross was placed on what is now known as the Hill of Crosses in 1831.
