Santa Fe, New Mexico is located in the Sangre de Cristo foothills. It is known for its unique architectural style of Pueblo-style homes and buildings. It is also known for being founded as a Spanish colony in 1610. As a result, Santa Fe has a main plaza and feels different to that of many United States cities.
I visited Santa Fe, NM on a road trip with my dad from Seattle, Washington to Santa Fe, NM. En route, we passed through many other states, but this article will underscore the wonderful artists enclave of Santa Fe.
Why visit Santa Fe?

Santa Fe has a distinctive smell. In most parts of the town, you can smell Piรฑon wood. As dried chilies hang from shop windows or hotel balconies, you feel as if you have been transported. There is a sense of going back back into a historically-rich Spanish city. This feeling occurs all while still being in the United States.
In addition to the above, the city is rich with history as well. From the Georgia OโKeeffe Museum to The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, there is lots to see and the food is (largely) great!ย

When to go to Santa Fe?
