In writing this article, I have kept 2 things in mind. The first consideration I had was maximizing your time during your vacation. Travel is still considered a luxury for many Americans and time off can be hard to find. Given this, I have designed an easy itinerary. You can explore numerous and diverse locations in a short span of time – 2 weeks to be exact. The second consideration I had was more of an experiential focus. I wanted to offer insights into multiple cities and cultures. I also aimed to provide a way for individuals of diverse interests to have a fun trip.
I have designed the following itinerary. It starts from Copenhagen, Denmark and goes to Poznan, Poland. The journey includes stops in Hamburg, Bremen and Berlin, world-class German cities.
Let’s dive in:
Copenhagen, Denmark (3-4 days)

I studied child psychology and human development in Denmark in 2017. During my time in Copenhagen, I learned about the best things to do in the city. The following recommendations are mere suggestions, please customize per your interests:
- The Round Tower – great views!
- Christiansborg Palace – stunning architecture
- National Museum of Denmark
- Nyhavn – colorful houses and a city landmark
- The Little Mermaid
- Frederik’s Church
- Kastellet – Danish fortress
- TorvehallerneKBH – fresh food market with great local food
- NY Carlsberg Glyptotek
- Copenhagen Botanical Gardens
- Tivoli Amusement Park
- Rosenborg Castle – a Danish castle
After exploring Copenhagen, you will take a bus journey into Germany. The ride is expected to last around 6.5 hours and Flixbus provides a bus service that is easy to use and tourist-friendly.
Hamburg (2 days)
This German port city has an industrial feel combined with architectural beauties. The city is worth spending a few days in depending on your schedule. It is a natural point of connection between Copenhagen and your next destination. It also serves as a good way to break up your trip in reasonable daily travel chunks.

- Hamburg Town Hall
- St. Pauli Piers
- Speicherstadt (neighborhood)
- Port of Hamburg
The next leg of your trip is rather short. It takes about 1 hour to go between Hamburg and Bremen via train or bus.
Bremen (2 days)
This German city is revered for its historic quarter. It is deemed one of the nicest in Germany. The dreamy pastel colors combined with the Gothic church of St. Peter’s provides a wonderful backdrop for your vacation. During your two days here, feel free to get a bit lost in the wonder of it all. Take in the sights, try the food, grab a local beer and make sure to see the Town Musicians of Bremen- a bronze statue.

- Schnoor Viertel (Historical Quarter)
- Historische Altstadt
- Marketplatz
- St. Peter’s Cathedral
- Town Musicians of Bremen
- Bremen Town Hall
- Try German food and a beer!
From Bremen, Germany, it should take around 3.5 hours to reach Berlin.
Berlin (4 days)
Oh, Berlin! Arguably, Berlin is one of the most iconic cities in Germany. As a historical pillar and cultural hub, it once marked the division between Western and Eastern Europe. Berlin is a city for all types of people. From art galleries to graffiti and history or food, this city is dynamic!

- East Side Gallery
- Reichstag Building
- Berlin Cathedral
- Charlottenburg Palace
- Berlin Wall Memorial
- Berlin TV Tower
- Mauerpark Flea Market
- Museum Island and more…!
Your time in Germany is coming to a close around this point in the itinerary. Do not worry. That just means it is time to visit Poland. Poland was formerly part of Eastern Europe when the Berlin Wall was in place!
Poznan (3 days)
From pierogies to market places and colorful buildings, Poznan (and most Polish cities for that matter) are full of charm! While here, try to eat as much as you can. Visit the Palm House. Grab a coffee or a drink while you people watch in the Old Market Square. Here are some additional things to check out during your time in Poznan, Poland.
- Old Market Square
- Poznan Cathedral
- Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Mary Magdalene and St. Stanislaus
- Poznan Palm House
- Croissant Museum
- Malta Lake
