How to Visit Tulip Town from Seattle: A Travel Guide

Nestled in a town north of Seattle lies Mount Vernon within Skagit Valley. Each year as Spring begins (~April) in the Pacific Northwest, large fields of colorful tulips bloom. Rows of flowers, families, couples and curious photographers make visits to the fields. Red, orange, purple and more colors abound.

Transportation

From Seattle, I explored a new way to reach the tulip fields. From SEA – King Street station, I took an Amtrak train up to Mt. Vernon (MVN). Link to Amtrak: https://www.amtrak.com/home.html

The journey took approximately an hour and a half one-way. From there, I could have taken the 615 toward March’s Point, but it runs relatively infrequently, so I opted for an Uber. In a little under 10 minutes, I reached my first stop – Tulip Town.

Journey Details and Gardens

Tulip Town is a relatively newer tulip garden that opened up in close proximity to the largest of the options, Roozengarde. After exploring Tulip Town, I made a stop at Roozengarde where I grabbed a hot dog and kettle corn. More information here: http://tulipfestival.org/gardens/roozengaarde/

My journey start-to-finish took approximately 6 hours with ample time to explore the gardens, get lunch along with getting a bit lost in the fields of flowers.

I would recommend visiting multiple gardens via the relatively inexpensive ticket options as some are less crowded depending on the day of the week. The busiest time to visit in Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets average $15+.

Enjoy and take photos! ~K
