Tallinn, Estonia is located on the Baltic Sea near Finland, Latvia and Lithuania. This wonderful capital is chalk full of things to do, places to eat, and hidden gems to uncover. I will be sharing a mini guide with you. It will include where to go, what to do, where to eat, and more about this Baltic gem!

How to get there š
The best way of getting to this underrated destination is actually from within Europe! Flights from JFK in New York and O-Hare in Chicago may exist. However, it is almost always cheaper to fly to a major European hub. Think of places like London-Heathrow or Paris-Charles Du Gaulle. You can then take a hopper flight from there via a budget airline. My favorite European airline for this trip would likely be LOT, but if you can find a cheap flight via KLM, Air France, or British Airways, these airlines might provide a higher degree of comfort even for a shorter flight.
Where to stay

I would definitely recommend staying in Tallinn’s Old Town. It is the historic part of the city. This area has beautiful architecture, traditional places to eat, and many major attractions.
You will save on Uber or Lyft / other transportation costs by staying in this part of town, so while it may seem initially more costly, there will be savings built in – I promise!
where to visit
To start, I recommend orienting yourself via a view of the city from St. Olaf’s Church. The view is stunning and offers a way to situation where you are in the city. On a clear day, you can also see the Baltic Sea.
Next stop: Catherine’s Passage. This charming walkway is known for its beautiful architectural influence. Made from what looks like stone, the archways are medieval and majestic all at once.

From there, you will want to make your way to Alex Nevsky Cathedral as it is also located near a viewing platform. My recommendation would be to grab a coffee near the church, take some photos, and then head to the viewing platform for a peaceful moment of escape.
An absolute “do not miss” on my list of where to visit in Tallinn is Telliskivi, the city’s Creative District. From trendy spots to eat to a bohemian counter-cultural feel, this part of the city is cute, chic, and oh, so photographic!

Where to eat
Hungry, yet?
If so, I have quite the list of good eats for you! For a breakfast smoothie or local brunch, make a b-line for RUKIS, located in Old Town. The food is visually stunning and tastes as good as it looks!

Ready for lunch or dinner? Odessa Restaurant is a must! This Ukrainian restaurant is truly out-of-this-world with on-point vibes and even better service! From a welcome shot of vodka to a small complimentary appetizer and a wonderful chicken Kiev, I was pleased with this restaurant. Note: This is my opinion and in no way sponsored!

Peppersack
The same goes for Peppersack, a traditional Estonian eatery with a great atmosphere!
And there you have it, a brief introduction into Tallinn, Estonia! A capital city you may have never heard of!
